Day 2: HTML Is a Home

Today was about what HTML is!

In the morning we put the laptops away and built webpages out of paper to learn about how things nest within a webpage. We went over tags and pairs, what nests inside what, and how browsers read HTML. After that, we got our first taste of CSS: selectors, ids and classes, practiced with a few rounds of CSS Diner.

In the afternoon we set up our VS Code, Live Server, GitHub Desktop and learnt how to commit. Building on our knowledge of CSS selectors, everyone forked a cleanly marked-up Bohemian Rhapsody and styled it into the ugliest website they could. We deployed the monstrosities to Netlify so that the world could see what we made. It’s only day two, and everyone has a website on the actual internet!!
