Day 8: Information Architecture
Yesterday we made a pile of subjects and today we gave that pile a shape. Basics of information architecture for our own spaces!
We started with a card sort, where you write each subject on a card, sort the cards into groups, and name the groups until you have a structure that matches how people might think about the content.
Then we spent most of the session on review, reading each other’s plans and asking questions of them. By the end everyone had narrowed their site down to three sections they will definitely want to try to finish over the next two weeks. If time remains, then everything else! We finished by with a very short overview of ‘content schemas’, which will give us some clarity about the shapes of our content as we move to coding.
